Glory Gem Mine is located on Loafers
Glory Campground. Loafers Glory is the name of the small town near
Bakersville, NC and we're in Mitchell County. Mitchell County is famous for all the natural gemstones.
The gem mine is next to a mountain stream flowing into the North Toe River which flows through the campground. You can camp right next to the river! The gorgeous view with the stream trickling are soooooo relaxing!

| Most of our outdoor 40 foot flume (sluice) is covered so we can mine rain or shine but we have remembered those sun worshipers and left part of the flume uncovered.
We have miners ready to assist you in identifying which rocks to keep. We supply everything! Come ready to have fun and take home some true treasures.
When you finish mining, we will place you "finds" on an identification chart so you can remember what each rock is and you can impress your friends with your rock knowledge.
